Saison were traditionally prepared on the farms of Wallonia (Belgium) to quench the thirst of seasonal workers (saisonniers in French) during the harvest. The Met Museum in New York displays a famous painting by Bruegel the Elder depicting a resting scene for farm workers; the amphorae in the painting remind us that it is good to end a day of hard work with an excellent beer.
